Tbh I don’t read Mithrun or any of the canaries as Kabru’s peers at all, if that makes sense. They’re HIS MOM’S peers. Her literal colleagues. She personally chose to spare Mithrun’s life after he fucked up in a dungeon (she also was the one who was gonna Old Yeller him in the first place, but I digress). When Kabru encountered the canaries for the first time in the manga, they already knew him through Milsiril. To me, Mithrun’s relationship to Kabru is more like your mom’s friend that you call “auntie” despite the fact that you’re not related
