Viserys I Targaryen had a generous, amiable nature, and was well loved by his lords and smallfolk alike. The reign of the Young King, as the commons called him upon his ascent, was peaceful and prosperous. His Grace’s open-handedness was legendary, and the Red Keep became a place of song and splendor. King Viserys and Queen Aemma hosted many a feast and torney, and lavished gold, offices, and honors on their favorites.
At the center of the merriment, cherished and adored by all, was their only surviving child, Princess Rhaenyra, the little girl the court singers dubbed “the Realm’s Delight.” Though only six when her father came to the Iron Throne, Rhaenyra Targaryen was a precocious child, bright and bold and beautiful as only one of dragon’s glood can be beautiful. At seven, she became a dragonrider, taking to the sky on the young dragon she named Syrax, after a goddess of old Valyria. At eight, the princess was placed into service as a cupbearer... but for her own father, the king. At table, at tourney, and at court, King Viserys thereafter was seldom seen without his daughter by his side.
everything that could go wrong today has and I’m just ready to call it quits for this year while I’m ahead. Not even going to try anymore.

liushennnn in my attendant sy au (read right to left)
notes on this au:
If you could rewrite anything about korra's personality or its development, what would you change?
i mean i think overall korra’s personality and internal character arc is good and that she is a truly beautiful wonderful character who is simply trapped in a very flawed, reactionary show. so i guess i would change korra’s thematic/political role as someone who upholds the status quo, and i’d begin with her actually acknowledging the harm the white lotus did to her by restricting her agency and freedom for her entire adolescence by positioning themselves as the sole authority on her role as avatar. and obviously reclaiming her agency and personhood from how she is defined and boxed in by the world is a central tenet of her arc already, but i would make the white lotus more directly implicated in that critique (in the same way the yangchen novels actually do!) as well as the other systemic forces at play dictating korra’s external role and development as someone who maintains existing institutions at all costs because the alternative is always necessarily positioned as worse. which is crazy. korra (the brilliant amazing character that she is) truly deserved better than to function thematically within this harmful framework. i could free her
just thinking out loud here but i feel like a lot of popular perception of kon esp in online fandom spaces is colored by his joie de vivre and all the times he's silly and goofy. which i do of course adore!! i love when he's silly and goofy. but comparing that perception to, that of like, clark or kara, i feel like kon gets shunted into the box of "dumb comic relief character" a lot more easily. lots of factors probably contribute to that (sb94 having a bad rep, while no other kon comic really goes into a lot of his tragedy; conflation with the side of the fandom that doesn't read comics; the fact that comparatively postcrisis kara doesn't have a team the way kon has yj and clark is seen as a more capable adult, so other characters in the jl get the "dumb comic relief" short end of the stick more often; etc) ...
... but what really gets me about him is that he does embody a lot of the same traits as the rest of the kryptonian superfam. he's so extremely kind. he's got that same noble heart as the rest of them; he cares about everyone and he wants to protect everyone. and he's so, so lonely. he struggles between cultures and worlds where he feels like he doesn't belong to either. he is so strong and capable and holds so much power that it scares him.
cradles him gently in my hands. he contains multitudes... come closer don't you want to love him 🥺
I admire your optimism about this arc even though I do not understand it
quackity has said on multiple occasions that they're not just going to kill off the eggs, for one, and for two again i think it's just as stupid to be unreasonably pessimistic as it is to want everything you want to happen to occur.
if i was truly optimistic i would argue this whole thing is a facade and actually there's a bunch of hidden puzzles on these islands and a ton of investigating to do and everyone will make a commune and survive together and figure out what's going on and also spiderbit will make out with blood in their mouths. that last one is actually pretty realistic but you get my point.
i understand that this event really is not for me, but i also understand what is actually reasonable to expect from qsmp admins, and killing off the eggs, which they've promised they would not do in this manner, is not realistic either.
and i think angst for angst's sake is boring and narratively unsatisfying. so they're not going to do that.
speaking of danger days, ive been reading a bunch of critical reviews/bad rym scores/blog posts about the response to dd (introducing a friend to it after we talked about bladerunner) and I find the just. complete inability to take the project as art engaged in meaning-building soooooo fascinating im not even mad. the second a synth is heard the entire effort is reduced to something lesser, only made with the intention of fun. even defenses of it refuse to take it seriously as like. a project which is using pop convention, form, sci-fi world-building, etc to commentate. or even that it is actually depressing lmao. but the narrative around an electronically minded followup to a magnum opus is basically "sell-out" catnip even if that makes literally zero sense/they scrapped an entire album before this project. people will simply create their own interpretation!
giving my ldb a daughter. embarrassing for all involved. mostly me
