On the question of the Phd by the age of 10: let's not forget three things about Penelope. 1) she has an eidetic memory (she never forgets anything she is exposed to); 2) she can't go outside during the day; 3) she is an insomniac. Now ask yourself: what a kid with all of those conditions would do with her time? She would read--A LOT! AND, since she almost never sleeps, by the time she is 10, she would have read more than most people read in their lives! She would have nearly 25 to 30 years worth of learning behind her (as compared to 'normal' people). This was my rationale for Penelope having a PhD. Again, it isn't plausable, but not impossible. |
